A therapist at his desk and a client at home, talking by video call

Does THIS sound familiar?

People come to me for many reasons. These are some of the most common.

  • Worry and stress

Your mind rarely switches off. Worry, tension or restlessness are taking up more room than you would like.

  • Heavy periods

Things feel flat, heavy or pointless, and it is hard to find the energy for what used to matter.

  • Difficult experiences

Something that happened still affects how you feel, react or relate to others. We talk about it at your pace.

  • Life changes and relationships

A breakup, a loss, a move or a new chapter has left you unsure of where you stand, or who you are now.

  • Work and career

Feeling worn out, a difficult workplace, a career crossroads, or a sense that your work no longer fits the life you want.

How I work

My work is grounded in acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). The idea is simple: much of what we struggle with gets heavier when we fight it. Instead of trying to get rid of difficult thoughts and feelings, we work on relating to them differently, so they take up less room and you can put your energy into the life you want.

I also draw on existential therapy. Some difficulties are not problems to be fixed but questions to live with: who am I now, what do I want, what gives my life meaning? We make time for those too.

  • Making room

Learning to notice difficult thoughts and feelings without being run by them. We practise stepping back from the mind's noise instead of arguing with it.

  • Finding what matters

Getting clear on your values: what kind of person you want to be, and what you want your life to be about. They become the compass for our work.

  • Taking small steps

Turning those values into small, concrete actions you can try between sessions, even when it feels uncomfortable.

  • The bigger questions

Room for questions about meaning, choice, freedom, loss and change, without rushing to an answer.

About me

Conversation therapist

I offer counselling and mentoring for people who want to understand themselves better and find a way forward. My background is in social work and leadership, so I am as comfortable talking about what is happening at work as about what is happening at home.

I hold a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and a Master of Leadership (MLed). In my work I draw mainly on acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and existential therapy: making room for what is difficult, and getting clearer on what matters to you and how you want to live.

How it works

Getting started is simple, and you can stop at any point.

  1. Book a free intro call

Pick a time that suits you. We talk for 20 minutes by video about what brings you here and how I can help.

  2. Decide in your own time

There is no pressure to continue. If it feels like a good fit, we agree on a time for a first session.

  3. Meet online

We meet by video, usually weekly or every other week, and check in regularly on how it is going for you.

Questions and answers

What happens in the free intro call?

It is a relaxed 20-minute video call. You tell me a little about what brings you here, I explain how I work, and you can ask anything you like. It is a chance to see whether we are a good fit. You don't need to prepare, and there is no obligation to continue.

How do online sessions work?

We meet by video. You get a link by email before each session. All you need is a phone, tablet or computer, a stable internet connection, and a place where you can talk without being overheard. Many people find headphones helpful.

Is what I say confidential?

Yes. What you share with me stays between us. The only exceptions are if there is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else, or if the law requires me to pass something on. I will go through this with you in our first session.

How many sessions will I need?

It varies. Some people come for a handful of sessions around one specific issue, others prefer longer support. We review along the way, and you decide how long to continue.

Is counselling the right kind of help for me?

I am a counsellor, not a psychologist or a doctor. I don't diagnose, prescribe medication or treat illness, and counselling does not replace help from your GP or the specialist health service. It is a good fit if you want a regular, confidential space to talk things through and find ways forward.

If you are in acute crisis, have thoughts of ending your life, or need medical or specialist mental health care, please contact your GP or the emergency services. You will find the numbers at the bottom of this page. If you are unsure, the intro call is a good place to ask.

Ready to take the first step?

Reaching out can be the hardest part. A short, free conversation is all it takes to find out if this is right for you.
